The International Criminal Court, sitting in Tanzania, has found three leaders of the Rwanda genocide guilty of planning and organising the 1994 massacres.
There are those who have started to deny that there were mass killings and others who accept that but still believe they were spontaneous and unplanned. This verdict stands against such views. It is another small step in coming to terms with what took place. This was the first genocide in history to have been documented in such detail and we can only hope that it marks the point at which we all agreed to never allow such things to happen again.
