		<description>Its interesting that Gordon Brown felt the need to visit Iraq during the Conservative Party Conference and the effect was, of course, that yesterdays new cycle carried this. I wonder if it has backfired however. Last night's Channel 4 news mooted this possibility and the Government was forced to send on a junior defence minister to defend the plans. What is clear is that the era of spin is far from over,

As for stop over at Balmoral - doesn't sound very Gordon Brown...! I wonder if this might have been a prank in the conference bars!!</description>
