International Insight at Conference

The Party conference programme is beginning to come together. The TRG will be hosting a session with Sir Christopher Meyer on Monday lunchtime and with rumours circulating in the media that the Party is hoping to welcome Senator John McCain to the main floor. We would like to think that this is an indication that the Conservative Party is being widely seen as a Party that stands a realistic chance of winning the next general election.

Whether or not that is true, it will certainly make for one of the most outward-looking and exciting conference programmes for years.

Built to Last?

Over the past few days all Party members should have received ballot papers relating to the adoption of “Built to Last: The Aims and Values of the Conservative Party”.

Now this document may not suit everybody. Chances are it never could have done so. However, in our view it is a step in the right direction and gives some examples of the new policies that will provide the meat on the bones of the stated intentions David Cameron and his team have set out before. As such, we believe that this is a document that the TRG should be proud to support and we would urge all of our members to vote in favour of its adoption.
